Peters Creek

Peters Creek is a clear river which has its source in Peters Hills and empties into the Kahiltna River about 30 miles southwest.
The Kahiltna River 's source is the Kahiltna Glacier at the foot of the Denali Mountains(formerly Mt. McKinley).
The confluence of Peters Creek lies ca. 25 air miles north of our Lodge. Flight time is approx. 15 minutes.
Many large King Salmon ascend these clear, stony waters from mid-June to mid-July.

A great experience from the year 1996:
For a change of pace back then, we visited Peters Creek at the end of June. We had 9 guests and 2 guides. Our catch: 9 Kings, the smallest weighing 52lbs., the largest, 64lbs.!

Trout can be caught as well, now and then. The first Silver Salmon come to the confluence ca. August 5th, and the run stretches until about mid-September.
A short Red Salmon run stretches over the second and third weeks in August. We have placed a rubber boat near the confluence in order to be able to get our guests over to the opposite bank where there is a flat pebble shore enabling easy fishing. Well-suited for fly fishermen!
Because Peters Creek is somewhat difficult to reach (pontoon plane and bush-taxi), it's a secret tip-hardly any other fishermen!
